Dive Brief:
- Travel + Leisure Co. has purchased The Cedars Ranch in Wimberley, Texas, which it plans to rebrand under its outdoors-inspired hospitality concept, the Eddie Bauer Adventure Club, according to a news release. The nature-focused property is expected to open in summer 2027.
- The Eddie Bauer Adventure Club – Texas Hill Country marks the first “Outpost” in the brand’s portfolio, per the release. Located less than an hour from Austin, the property sits on 20 acres and features 21 accommodations, including geodomes, yurts and cabins.
- The acquisition announcement comes after Travel + Leisure Co. launched the Eddie Bauer Adventure Club in May with a 39-suite resort in Moab, Utah, marking the longstanding outdoor apparel brand’s foray into hospitality. The Outpost property arrives as customers show an appetite for unique experiences in nature.
Dive Insight:
The upcoming Outpost in Texas will feature fire pits, outdoor camp kitchens, an onsite trail and yard games including bocce ball and pickleball. Additionally, the property’s existing event space will become an owners’ lounge with self-serve retail. The resort’s design aims to blend modern architecture with sustainable solar power.
Renovations to add accommodations and enhance resort amenities at the Texas property are expected to take place throughout 2027. Reservations for vacation club owners and guests are expected to open early next year.
The brand’s Outposts are designed to bring travelers closer to nature, “where the landscape becomes part of the stay,” per the release.
Outposts represent the third part of the Eddie Bauer Adventure Club ecosystem, alongside Basecamps and Trail Partners. More intimate than Basecamps, Outposts will range from modern cabins and lodges to tiny homes and other one-of-a-kind accommodations, per the release.
“An Outpost is about getting closer to the places that inspire you,” Sarah Koves, senior vice president of brand strategy at Travel + Leisure Co., said in a statement. “In Wimberley, Eddie Bauer Adventure Club owners can spend the day cycling Hill Country roads or exploring nearby towns like Fredericksburg and New Braunfels, then return to a quiet retreat under the live oaks.”
Basecamps, the club’s resort properties, are meant to serve as a “comfortable home base” for exploring the outdoors, per the release. The brand’s first location in Utah is a Basecamp.
Meanwhile, Trail Partners allow owners to explore beyond the club’s own properties, giving them access to networks of outdoor accommodations like Under Canvas.
During this year’s Lodging Conference in Phoenix, brand leaders agreed that the outdoor hospitality sector will continue to grow as travelers crave immersive experiences and access to nature-inspired amenities.
