Dive Brief:
- Sandpiper Hospitality will add more than a dozen new hotels, including in the Southwest and Midwest regions, to its management portfolio over the next 90 days, according to a Monday news release.
- The expansion brings four new brands to Sandpiper’s portfolio: Homewood Suites by Hilton, Hampton Inn by Hilton, Fairfield Inn & Suites from Marriott International and Holiday Inn Express from IHG Hotels & Resorts, per the release.
- Sandpiper’s overall brand mix reflects its “ability to support owners and projects across a wider range of hotel types” as its “national platform grows,” per the release. Currently, the Richmond, Virginia-based hotel management firm has more than 75 hotels open or under contract and manages 16 brands, including in the extended stay category, across 15 states.
Dive Insight:
In addition to the four new brands, Sandpiper will add hotels under three extended stay brands: Extended Stay America, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ Echo Suites and Choice Hotels International’s WoodSpring Suites, per the release. These additions come as “extended stay remains central to Sandpiper Hospitality’s identity and expertise,” the company said.
The expansion reflects “both new relationships and current clients growing with the company,” per the release.
In early 2025, Sandpiper Hospitality assumed management of an Echo Suites hotel in Richmond, Virginia. It also manages the brand’s inaugural hotel in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Sandpiper’s growth “reflects the trust of new and existing clients and carefully selected partners in high-profile projects positioned for success,” Jim Darter, the company’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
With the expansion, Sandpiper is “focused on delivering best-in-segment financial results and ROI for our clients’ investors, while providing our hotels with strategic support and a collaborative culture,” Darter added.
The additions come as the extended stay sector gains traction in areas such as near data center projects.
