Dive Insight:
Lehi, Utah-based LivAway Suites expects three more hotel openings in Arizona later this year, and the latest property aligns with its expansion strategy.
Mike Nielson, CEO of LivAway, said in a release that the company is building locations across the country “to meet the growing demand for higher-quality, affordable extended stay.”
"Our Glendale opening reflects our disciplined expansion strategy and our commitment to delivering a consistent, fresh experience in markets where long-term travelers need reliable, purpose-built solutions,” Nielson said.
The new Glendale hotel is an “ideal choice for traveling nurses and medical guests” due to its proximity to Banner Boswell Medical Center and St. Joseph's Westgate Medical Center, according to a February 2025 release announcing the hotel’s groundbreaking.
Toward the end of 2025, LivAway also broke ground on a new hotel in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa, Arizona, which is expected to open this fall. Meanwhile, LivAway Phoenix-Surprise, located near a handful of medical facilities and distribution centers, is expected to open May 15, per the company’s website.
Overall, LivAway plans to break ground on 10 more hotels nationwide during the rest of 2026, a company spokesperson shared.
LivAway Suites first launched in the “upper economy” extended stay space in 2023 and has 12 open properties, including three in Utah and two in Washington, according to its website.
Additionally, a spokesperson shared the company has about 22 hotels open or under development.
Competitors in the extended stay space include Choice Hotels International, which is expanding its midscale Everhome Suites portfolio and Sonesta International Hotels Corporation, which launched a new extended stay concept called Americas Best Value Studios by Sonesta last year.
