G6 Hospitality, the company behind the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, has named Krishna Paliwal president of midscale extended stay as it plots expansion into the segment.
Paliwal brings more than two decades of hospitality leadership experience to the role, most recently serving as president of Wyndham’s La Quinta and Hawthorn Suites brands as well as the company's head of architecture, design and construction. At Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Paliwal helped launch and grow the extended stay Echo Suites brand, per a Tuesday release.
In the newly created role, Paliwal will lead G6’s midscale and upper economy extended stay strategy, focusing on brand development, growth initiatives and enhancing the owner and guest experience. He will also oversee G6’s entry into midscale extended stay, “establishing the foundation for the segment’s long-term growth,” per the release.
“Krishna has demonstrated an exceptional ability to transform brands from the inside out, aligning architecture, design, operations, and development into a cohesive strategy that drives both guest satisfaction and owner profitability,” Ankit Tandon, vice chairman of G6, said in a statement.
According to G6, the U.S. midscale segment continues to show resilience, accounting for approximately 20% of the total hotel market, and its existing franchisees have expressed interest in expanding into the midscale space.
Dallas-based G6 Hospitality has nearly 1,500 economy lodging locations across the U.S. and Canada. Travel and hospitality firm OYO acquired G6 Hospitality for $525 million in late 2024.
Last month, G6 launched a new-construction extended stay brand called Studio 6 Plus, aimed at meeting travelers’ needs in the “rapidly growing upper-economy segment.”
