Dive Brief:
- Caesars Entertainment has officially opened Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino, a luxury resort in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, according to a Tuesday news release.
- The property’s debut marks Caesars’ completion of a multiphase repositioning of the former 1.6 million-square-foot Harveys Lake Tahoe, announced in early 2025. Caesars confirmed to Hotel Dive Tuesday that the property underwent $200 million worth of renovations as part of the transformation.
- The opening comes after Caesars saw a boost from its regional segment in recent quarters amid revenue declines in Las Vegas. With Caesars Republic connected to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Caesars now offers nearly 1,250 guest rooms in the Lake Tahoe market across both properties, per the release.
Dive Insight:
The grand opening of Caesars Republic marks the “beginning of an exciting new era for Lake Tahoe,” Anthony Carano, president and chief operating officer at Caesars, said in a Tuesday statement. During an April earnings call, Carano said Caesars stood to benefit from the project’s completion.
“With Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, we set out to create something truly distinctive for this market. An experience that blends the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada with the energy and innovation our guests expect,” Carano added in the Tuesday statement.
The resort features redesigned guest rooms, a fully modernized casino floor and curated dining and entertainment experiences, including Wolf by Vanderpump, Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, The Sage Room and a variety of new bars and lounges, according to the release.
Amenities at the property include a heated pool, hot tubs and cabanas as well as expanded meetings and events space. The resort will also host the Summer Concert Series at the 9,300-seat capacity Lake Tahoe Amphitheatre at Caesars Republic, per the release.
Additionally, the resort is connected to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, providing guests with access to other dining and entertainment options. Together, Caesars Republic and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe make up Caesars’ presence in the leisure destination.
Outside of Lake Tahoe, Caesars has recently expanded in other regional markets, including New Orleans and Danville, Virginia. In Las Vegas, the resort operator partnered with reality television personality Lisa Vanderpump on the June opening of The Vanderpump Hotel.
Caesars is scaling its portfolio of resorts as Fertitta Entertainment is set to acquire the operator in a deal valued at $17.6 billion.
