Virgin Hotels Collection CEO James Bermingham has stepped down from the role after nearly five years, the hotel brand confirmed to Hotel Dive Friday.
Joe Margison, chief commercial officer for the brand’s parent company, Virgin Group, has been appointed interim CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection for the next 12 months, according to the brand. Margison stepped into the role at the beginning of this month.
Margison “brings a wealth of experience from across the Virgin family” after serving on the Virgin Hotels Collection board for more than six years and leading Virgin Group’s real estate investment for 10 years, a Virgin Hotels Collection spokesperson said.
Margison “will provide strong leadership and continuity as the business enters its next phase of growth,” the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson thanked Bermingham for “his vision and the impact he has made across our business over the past five years,” adding that the former CEO “played a pivotal role in developing Virgin Hotels Collection and we wish him every success for the future.”
Virgin Hotels Collection portfolio spans properties in Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New Orleans and Las Vegas, with more in the pipeline.
Earlier this year, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and the Culinary and Bartenders Unions struck a deal on a new collective bargaining agreement after union workers went on strike for 69 days.
