Dive Insight:
The Salt Lake City Kimpton “represents the type of differentiated, high-quality asset where Stonebridge can create meaningful value through disciplined execution and a strong commercial strategy,” said Rob Smith, who was named president and CEO of Stonebridge in 2024, in a statement. “A Kimpton in this location, with this level of design, food and beverage activation, and brand backing, is well positioned to outperform its competitive set.”
The 10-story mid-rise hotel is located within a 10-minute walk from the downtown Salt Palace Convention Center and a 15-minute drive from the Salt Lake City International Airport, per the release. The property is also close to other city attractions, including Pioneer Park, as well as Delta Center, home to professional sports teams and the anchor of a new sports and entertainment district in development by Smith Entertainment Group.
Stonebridge’s focus will be on “building a ramp-up strategy that maximizes rate, drives premium demand segmentation, and delivers long-term returns for ownership,” Smith said.
The upcoming hotel will join downtown Salt Lake City’s other Kimpton location, the 225-room Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City that reopened in early 2024 after an extensive four-month renovation, per IHG.
The Salt Lake City Kimpton joins IHG’s push to grow the brand across the country, including in Texas Hill Country with the 210-key Kimpton Fredericksburg, California’s Napa Valley with the 123-key Kimpton Napa and in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, with the 400-key Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas.
Last month, IHG also opened the 529-room Kimpton Era Midtown New York as part of the brand’s push into the Big Apple.
