Dive Insight:
Extended-stay hotels, which accommodate longer stays from several days to weeks and feature amenities such as in-room kitchens and on-site laundry facilities, accounted for 611,000 rooms in the U.S. as of May 2025, according to the Highland Group. It’s estimated that the segment will generate around $20 billion in revenue this year.
The concept remains popular among developers, accounting for 38% of the projects under construction in the second quarter, 43% of those scheduled to begin within the next 12 months and 37% of projects in the early planning stage, according to Lodging Econometrics.
According to Keith Pierce, Sonesta’s executive vice president and president of franchise development, the “strategic evolution of our trusted Americas Best Value Inn brand” with Americas Best Value Studios allows the hotel company to “directly address the increasing demand within the extended-stay segment, providing a practical and comfortable solution for travelers seeking longer-term lodging at an exceptional value.”
“This new brand type allows our local franchised owner-operators to tap into a growing market while maintaining the friendly community-focused experience that Americas Best Value Inn is known for,” he said in a statement.
A completely franchised brand, Americas Best Value Inn operates in secondary and tertiary markets including Houston; Cedar City, Utah; and Katy, Texas. Guests of the new Americas Best Value Studios will be able to earn or redeem points as members of the Sonesta Travel Pass guest loyalty program.
Sonesta has about 1,100 properties, totaling 100,000 guest rooms, across 13 brands in nine countries.
