Sofitel has completed the renovation of its U.S. flagship location, Sofitel New York in Manhattan, the Accor-owned French luxury hotel brand announced Thursday.
The refurbishment project began last year and encompassed all of the hotel's public spaces, as well as its 346 guest rooms and 52 suites. Design firm HBA San Francisco fully redesigned the spaces “with French-inspired wall paneling, new custom furnishings, textiles and lighting,” per the release.
The hotel’s interiors are inspired by French Art Deco and feature ivory, cream and black tones, complemented by woven textiles in shades of red and high-gloss lacquered furnishings.
"The remarkable renovation of Sofitel New York marks a new era for our brand — particularly across North America,” Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems, said in the release, adding that almost 30% of Sofitel hotels worldwide are being revitalized.
Sofitel New York is also introducing its new Suite Collection, offering seven larger-scale suites, including a 1,205-square-foot 28th-floor penthouse, two premier 24th-floor suites and the 645-square-foot Grand Terrace Chrysler View Suite, which features a 475-square-foot terrace with views of the Chrysler Building. In addition, the 645-square-foot Panoramic Terrace Suite offers a 911-square-foot terrace with views of both the Empire and Chrysler buildings.
The hotel has also added Social 45 Bar & Bistro, which serves a morning pastry program as well as afternoon and evening cocktails and a French-inspired dining menu. An outdoor café is planned for spring 2026.
Sofitel New York's meetings and events spaces have also been refurbished and now include an Art Deco-themed Paris Ballroom, as well as seven meeting rooms, with many featuring floor-to-ceiling windows.
“The transformation of Sofitel New York is a celebration of New York's boundless energy and the timeless elegance of our French heritage," Dieter Schmitz, general manager of Sofitel New York, said in the release. “From our reimagined Penthouse and world-class suites to the debut of our vibrant new bar and bistro, Social 45, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create an experience as dynamic and unforgettable as the city itself.”
