Neil Jacobs stepped down from his role as CEO of Six Senses, the hospitality leader announced on LinkedIn Monday.
IHG Hotels & Resorts, which acquired Six Senses in 2019 for $300 million, confirmed Jacobs’ departure to Hotel Dive but declined to share further details about the leadership transition.
Jacobs spent more than 13 years at Six Senses, “one of the greatest privileges of my career,” he wrote on LinkedIn.
“From the start, we set out to create something different: a brand rooted in purpose and guided by the belief that hospitality can be both deeply meaningful and genuinely regenerative. We didn’t just build hotels, we built a culture where sustainability, wellness, design, and experience were always in service of something greater,” he wrote.
Jacobs’ journey with the brand began when Six Senses’ portfolio comprised eight hotels; now, it has 25 open properties and more than 30 in development, he shared.
However, the hospitality industry veteran will not be retiring. Rather, he’ll soon announce a new venture that “feels like a return to my own wild origins,” he wrote. “A chance to explore fresh ideas, challenge assumptions, and collaborate with kindred spirits who believe, as I do, that hospitality can be a force for good.”
Jacobs did not respond to a Hotel Dive request for further details.
An IHG spokesperson said Jacobs “has been at the heart of the growth and success of Six Senses, with his passion and vision helping elevate the brand to a world-renowned reputation for wonderful properties, sustainable practice and deep wellbeing.”
Since acquiring Six Senses, IHG has pushed expansion for the wellness resort brand, particularly in the U.S., where properties in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, California and Colorado are underway.
Six Senses is part of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which the company is expanding in the Americas region, specifically.
Prior to joining Six Senses, Jacobs was president of Starwood Capital Group’s hotel group and senior vice president of operations at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, according to LinkedIn.
