Minor Hotels plans to open the first Wolseley Hotel in New York City early next year, introducing London’s The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the U.S. for the first time, per a Thursday news release.
The 76-room Wolseley Hotel New York, located near Times Square and Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan, will establish New York as the flagship destination for the new luxury brand, per the release. Originally a clubhouse constructed in 1905, the property was designed by former architectural firm McKim, Mead & White.
The inaugural hotel aims to blend “British sophistication with New York's cultural energy,” per the release. Bedrooms and suites plan to feature a design that will bring together traditional and modern elements.
Meanwhile, the all-day Wolseley restaurant will anchor the hotel and serve as its social nexus. Other amenities include a cellar-level speakeasy, intended to complement The Wolseley restaurant, as well as a reimagined wellness center.
Inspired by its London namesake restaurant, the hotel aims to carry on its legacy as a hub of refined hospitality and a gathering place for cultural, business and civic leaders, per the release. The New York hotel in particular aims to embrace a “distinctly cosmopolitan lens.”
“Bespoke in-room amenities, thoughtful detailing, and a refined social energy will create an environment that feels both internationally polished and unmistakably New York,” according to the release.
Moreover, the upcoming New York hotel is part of a global rollout strategy, with future properties planned for cities across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, per the release. Each hotel will focus around a culinary scene, design and guest service.
