Marriott International has appointed three executives “to drive the company’s continued expansion,” as two long-time leaders prepare to depart, the company announced Friday.
Satya Anand, currently president of Marriott’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region, will become group president for the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean and Latin America region. Meanwhile, Neal Jones, currently chief operating officer for Europe and Africa and global leader for the Design Hotels brand, will assume the role of president of EMEA. Federico “Fede” Greppi, currently COO for CALA, will become the region’s president. All of the appointments are effective March 28, per Marriott.
The leadership transitions come as Liam Brown, currently group president for the U.S. and Canada, and Brian King, president of enterprise transformation and CALA, step down from their roles at the end of March.
“Liam and Brian are extraordinary leaders whose impact on Marriott and our people cannot be overstated,” Marriott CEO Anthony Capuano said in a release. “They have guided our company through pivotal moments with vision, integrity, and a deep commitment to our associates, guests and owners.”
Brown will depart Marriott after a nearly four-decade career with the company, during which time his leadership in EMEA as well as the U.S. and Canada “delivered sustained portfolio growth, operational efficiencies and resilience through periods of significant industry disruption,” according to Marriott.
King, meanwhile, spent roughly three decades at Marriott, per the company. During that time, he accelerated the company’s footprint and strengthened profitability in CALA, Marriott said in the release. Notably, King spearheaded Marriott’s entry into the midscale segment through the acquisition of the City Express brand in 2023. The company has since expanded in the segment in the U.S. through the launch of the StudioRes extended stay brand.
In their new roles, Anand, Jones and Greppi continue their own long-term careers at Marriott, and are slated to advance the company’s strategy, Capuano said.
“Satya brings a powerful combination of operational depth, financial discipline, and design expertise to a unified regional structure,” while Jones brings “a laser focus on innovation and owner relationships,” Capuano said. Greppi’s “deep market, financial and operating expertise in CALA will position the region well as we focus on further accelerating our growth in the southern hemisphere,” Capuano added.
Brown and King will remain with Marriott in advisory roles through June 2026, at which point they will retire from the company, per the release.
Last year, Marriott announced that Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Development Leeny Oberg will retire in March, with Marriott veterans Jen Mason and Shawn Hill succeeding her.
