Highline Hospitality Partners will open a new lifestyle hotel in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, under the JdV by Hyatt brand collection early this summer, according to a news release shared with Hotel Dive.
The 197-key Lowline Hotel is a full renovation of the former Hyatt Place Charleston Historic District and is among the first properties in the southeastern U.S. to convert under the JdV brand.
Lowline Hotel is “designed to reflect the character, creativity, and cultural heartbeat” of the area and is meant for travelers and locals alike, per the release. The property's theme “honors Charleston’s heritage while embracing modern lifestyle hospitality.”
Hotel amenities will include a Charleston-inspired indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant, featuring a secluded garden; a private dining room with a golf simulator; a coffee shop; an indoor pool; and nearly 8,000 square feet of event space.
Birmingham, Alabama-based developers Highline Hospitality Partners acquired the hotel, as well as the adjacent Hyatt House Charleston Historic District, in November 2024, per the release.
“Our vision was to create a property that is not only reflective of Charleston’s rich heritage but also anticipates the evolving expectations of today’s discerning traveler,” Chuck Pomerantz, managing partner of Highline, said in the release. “Every detail has been considered to deliver a sense of place, a connection to community, and an experience that feels both authentic and transformative.”
The property is located on the city’s King Street retail corridor and is near the Lowcountry Lowline, which is a roughly 1.6-mile linear park and multi-use trail that broke ground in December.
Lowline Hotel will be joining other luxury hotels near or on King Street, including The Charleston Place, Hotel Bennett and the boutique Nickel Hotel. The street is considered the city’s premier hospitality and retail corridor, per the release.
Hyatt opened its first JdV property in Alaska in June 2025. Other hotels under this brand include the the 125-key Chambray Hotel near Atlanta and the 232-key TOOR Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
The company has been expanding its other independent collections as well, including The Unbound Collection, Destination by Hyatt and Unscripted by Hyatt.
