Lifestyle hospitality brand Faena has debuted in New York City with a 120-key hotel designed to immerse guests into the city’s “creative pulse” through culinary offerings, design and art, the brand announced Monday.
From brand founder Alan Faena, as well as parent hotel company Accor, Faena New York opened Monday in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, overlooking the High Line. The hotel opening follows others from the Faena brand in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Miami Beach, Florida.
Designed by Faena’s in-house design team, along with collaborator Peter Mikic, the hotel aims to merge art, culture and community into “unforgettable experiences,” according to the brand. The hotel’s interiors include “bold patterns and iconic symbolism” intertwined with “the theatrical elegance inspired by old New York glamour,” Faena detailed in a release.
The hotel is home to signature restaurant La Boca, offering a menu inspired by lead chef Francis Mallmann’s Patagonian fire-cooking techniques and flavors. Carrying Faena’s art-forward theme into the dining concept, La Boca features pop-art murals by Edgardo Gimenez as well as bespoke chandeliers by artist Alberto Garutti.
The property’s gathering spaces also include The Living Room, with two Art Deco-style bars and an outdoor terrace. Meanwhile, opening later this year, the 12,000-square-foot Tierra Santa Healing House will feature a hammam, 11 treatment rooms, an infrared sauna and fitness and movement studios; it will also offer South American healing treatments that use indigenous ingredients and antiaging technologies, per Faena.
Next spring, the Faena Theatre will open on-property, showing “ambitious artistic productions and Faena’s very own highly-acclaimed cabaret performances,” according to the brand.
Faena New York debuts roughly a week after Marriott International opened W New York – Union Square following its $100 million renovation. Other highly anticipated hotel openings this fall include Delano Miami Beach.
