Dive Insight:
The new voco hotel is named after Ardez, a small village in Switzerland known for its heritage and sustainable tourism, the release detailed. Voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale blends the alpine village’s “tradition of craft and care,” with “a contemporary premium hotel made for Silicon Valley,” per the release.
Every architectural and artistic decision for the hotel was “made to honor the natural world that surrounds Northern California,” the release detailed. The nature-oriented property features a living moss wall in the lobby as well as a floor-to-ceiling California wine cellar.
The hotel also offers a library-inspired great room, a dedicated boardroom, a fitness center and a full-swing golf simulator suite. It is also home to the Verd’e craft cocktail lounge and restaurant.
The hotel opening comes after IHG debuted voco Times Square – Broadway in New York City earlier this year, representing the brand’s largest property in the Americas.
The voco brand, along with IHG’s Garner and Vignette Collection brands, contributed to the hotel company’s system and pipeline growth in the first quarter of the year, with conversions representing more than half of the company’s Q1 signings.
Voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale will specifically cater to executives, founders, engineers and visiting corporate teams to Silicon Valley’s technology hub, according to the release.
Also in the region, luxury hotel brand Appellation is planning a culinary-focused hotel in Morgan Hill, California.
