- Hyatt Hotels has appointed Tamara Lohan as global brand leader, luxury, on an interim basis, the company announced Wednesday at luxury travel trade event International Luxury Travel Market Cannes.
- Lohan joined Hyatt in 2023 when the company acquired the luxury hotel platform Mr & Mrs Smith, which she co-founded and led for more than 20 years, per a press release. In her new role, Lohan is tasked with guiding Hyatt’s global luxury brand strategy.
- Hyatt also revealed a slate of openings scheduled for 2026, including Miraval The Red Sea on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island. The adults-only, 180-key retreat will be the Miraval brand’s first resort outside the U.S. and will include “the largest spa in the Red Sea destination,” according to a press release.

Luxury has been a significant growth driver for Hyatt, and the company’s luxury chain scales helped drive a systemwide RevPAR gain in the third quarter of 2025. The company’s luxury portfolio includes nearly 125 luxury hotels, representing more than 21,000 rooms worldwide.
“Hyatt’s momentum in luxury continues to accelerate, powered by our insights-driven development strategy and commitment to delivering deeply resonant guest experiences,” CEO Mark Hoplamazian said in the release, adding that Lohan’s leadership would “further strengthen our ability to differentiate our luxury brands while growing with intent in the markets our guests and owners value most.”
At Mr & Mrs Smith, Lohan curated a collection of luxury, independent hotels. Her “deep expertise in personalization, global luxury trends and consumer insights” will help Hyatt elevate its luxury brand consistency and guest experiences, per the release.
“When Hyatt acquired Mr & Mrs Smith, it was clear how deeply Hyatt respects independent spirit, design integrity and the craft of luxury,” Lohan said. “It’s a privilege to help shape the future of what luxury means for Hyatt, and I’m excited to develop the brands in our portfolio and take our guests on even more personal experiences whilst thoughtfully growing the collection.”
In addition to Miraval The Red Sea, Hyatt plans to expand its luxury brand footprint in 2026 with the introduction of three new Park Hyatt hotels in Mexico, one in Canada and one in Vietnam, per the release The company is also reopening Park Hyatt Tokyo next week after an extensive remodel.
Also in 2026, Hyatt is opening the Alila Mayakoba on the Riviera Maya in Mexico and expanding its Unbound Collection by Hyatt by opening Kennedy 89 in Frankfurt, Germany.
With the addition of these new properties, Hyatt’s luxury chain scale pipeline will grow to more than 170 hotels, representing 141,000 rooms globally, per the release. As of Sept. 30, Hyatt’s overall portfolio included more than 1,450 hotels and all-inclusive properties in 82 countries.
