Hyatt Hotels has opened a 123-room Caption by Hyatt in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, marking the company’s entry into “one of the South’s most compelling destination cities,” per a Tuesday release.
The Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown is the second Caption by Hyatt hotel in the U.S. It joins a Caption hotel two hours north in downtown Nashville’s trendy Gulch neighborhood, which opened in late 2024.
Located in the vibrant Southside neighborhood, the hotel offers access to the area’s arts scene, restaurants, outdoor recreation and the scenic Tennessee River waterfront, according to the release.
The property, operated by Alabama-based LBA Hospitality and developed by Chattanooga-based 3H Group Inc., aims to serve as “a place where locals and travelers alike can create community and build connections,” Jason Ballard, who was appointed global brand leader for Hyatt’s Essentials portfolio in December, said in a statement. It’s also dog-friendly, welcoming pets up to 75 pounds.
“Our decision to partner with Hyatt stems from their commitment to understanding the needs of both owners and guests,” Hiren Desai, president and CEO of 3H Group and Chattanooga native, said in a statement. “Caption by Hyatt is an innovative brand, and its flexible design and focus on guest experience make it a natural fit for a city as dynamic and creative as Chattanooga.”
Launched in 2019, Caption by Hyatt is a lifestyle brand in the select-service category designed to inspire social connection, per the hotel company. Caption by Hyatt properties include its signature Talk Shop, an “all-day spot where guests can eat, drink, get some work done, hang with friends, or just chill.”
Guest rooms at Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the city skyline, Lookout Mountain and “surrounding ridgelines that define Chattanooga’s iconic landscape,” per the release. Rooms also feature Apotheke’s plant-based bath amenities and 55-inch HDTVs with Chromecast.
The hotel also includes two signature dining experiences, including the ground-floor Nomia Modern Kitchen serving “Asian-inspired cuisine with a Tennessee soul,” per the release, and the Stratus Rooftop Lounge, a rooftop bar with a lounge pool for hotel guests and city views.
Meetings and events spaces include a private boardroom that can double as a private dining area and a top-floor space that can accommodate up to 75 guests.
“Caption by Hyatt Chattanooga Downtown is a welcome addition to our city and a reflection of the momentum Chattanooga has built as a destination for visitors, businesses and residents alike,” Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said in a statement.
The opening follows other activity in downtown Chattanooga, including the reopening of The Waymark Hotel, a converted property that is part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, earlier this year, Hotel Management previously reported.
Additionally, Hilton also recently opened an 184-room Embassy Suites in downtown Chattanooga in September 2025, per Vision Hospitality Group, after breaking ground on the $54 million property in May 2023.
