Dive Brief:
- Hyatt Hotels is expanding its lifestyle Andaz brand to Utah’s Heber Valley with a hotel and residential concept that will represent the brand’s first mountain destination, the company announced in a release obtained by Hotel Dive.
- Offering a “refined approach to mountain hospitality,” Andaz Heber Valley will feature 85 guest rooms, as well as private residences spanning 62 condominiums and 140 villas, per Hyatt. Developed by Angstrom Development Group, the Andaz property will be part of The Slope, a larger mixed-use project with dining, retail and outdoor programming.
- Hyatt plots Andaz Heber Valley amid a broader push in the luxury lifestyle segment, which has driven performance gains for the company over the last several quarters. The hotel also expands Hyatt’s footprint in Utah’s ski country, where hotel competitors Hilton, Four Seasons and others are also carving out tracks.
Dive Insight:
Andaz Heber Valley will be completed in phases over the next several years, with the official opening scheduled for January 2029. Alongside the guest rooms and private residences, the property will feature access to outdoor recreation, high-end amenities and a signature restaurant focused on local, sustainable ingredients and hyperseasonal menus, per Hyatt.
The property will “prioritize design and wellbeing from a global perspective,” pulling inspiration from worldwide destinations while also emphasizing local craftsmanship and materials in the architecture and interiors, Hyatt detailed in the release.
“Heber Valley embodies the spirit of the American West in a perfectly understated way,” said Amar Lalvani, president and creative director of The Lifestyle Group at Hyatt. “In keeping with the Andaz brand, the hotel will be firmly rooted in that spirit while bringing a global sensibility inspired by our travels to places like the Dolomites and Niseko which have very special traditions we have fallen for.”
Andaz Heber Valley will “introduce a new kind of alpine hospitality to Heber Valley, one that is design-forward, wellness-driven, and rooted in a strong sense of place,” Neil Goldman, managing partner at Angstrom Development Group, said in the release.
Utah’s Heber Valley is located roughly 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport and near some of the state’s top ski resorts, including the Deer Valley East Village expansion, where Hyatt already has a footprint with the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley resort. Hilton, meanwhile, announced earlier this month that it would bring a luxury Waldorf Astoria hotel and residential property to Deer Valley East Village.
Beyond adding a new outdoor destination to Hyatt’s portfolio, Andaz Heber Valley will expand the company’s luxury lifestyle footprint. The luxury segment, in particular, was a key growth driver for Hyatt in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The hotel will be part of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Group, which was formed after Hyatt acquired Standard International in 2024. Lalvani, former Standard executive chairman, leads the division.
In May, Hyatt opened Andaz Miami Beach, the first hotel under The Lifestyle Group.
