The Drayton Hotel has joined Curio Collection by Hilton, marking the collection’s first property in the growing tourism market of Savannah, Georgia.
First opened in 2019, the hotel is situated in one of Savannah’s oldest buildings in the city’s historic district, formerly the American Trust and Bank. The 50-key property includes three food and beverage outlets: a French restaurant inspired by the Lowcountry, a cocktail lounge and a rooftop bar with views of City Hall and the Savannah River.
“With its distinguished design that embraces the building’s historic identity to unique, elevated dining experiences inspired by the rich culinary heritage of the destination, The Drayton Hotel is an incredible property to join the Curio Collection,” said Jenna Hackett, brand leader of Curio Collection by Hilton, in a statement.
Raghav Sapra, owner of The Drayton Hotel, said joining Curio Collection will allow the hotel to “provide guests with an elevated travel experience” as well as “welcome Hilton Honors members.”
Hilton’s Curio Collection now includes more than 140 upscale properties across 34 countries. The collection is designed to offer guests experiences at independent, locally minded hotels with premium amenities and food and beverage offerings while within the Hilton network and Hilton Honors loyalty program. Earlier this summer, Hilton launched Curio Collection properties in Lagos, Nigeria; Opatija, Croatia; and Rhodes, Greece.
Savannah hosted 9.7 million overnight visitors in 2022, attracting more than $4.4 billion in visitor spending throughout the year, according to Visit Savannah and Longwoods International’s 2022 Travel USA Report.
The growth stems from more than just the city’s post-2020 travel recovery: Increased air service to Savannah and expanded tourism offerings have also brought in visitors, the report added. In 2022, lodging demand in the city was up 9.2% for hotels and 3.3% for short-term rentals over 2021.
Choice Hotels International also recently expanded its upscale Cambria brand to Georgia with a location in the same neighborhood, the Cambria Hotel Savannah Downtown Historic District.
