Dive Brief:
- Choice Hotels International has expanded its Everhome Suites portfolio with hotel openings in San Antonio, Texas; Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Somerset, New Jersey, the company announced Monday.
- These new midscale extended stay hotels were developed in partnership with Highside Companies, which is underway on a targeted expansion of the Everhome Suites brand. Choice now has 27 Everhome Suites properties open nationwide.
- The openings come as extended stay “continues to be one of the most compelling segments in lodging,” Matt McElhare, vice president and extended stay segment lead at Choice Hotels, said in a release. Last year, domestically, Choice saw its “strongest extended stay year on record,” the company announced last week.
Dive Insight:
Designed for guests seeking apartment-style accommodations for longer stays, the newly opened Everhome Suites hotels feature the brand’s standard prototype with fully equipped in-unit kitchens and modern design, according to Choice. The properties are situated near major employment centers, universities, medical centers and other attractions.
The continued expansion of Everhome Suites is a key part of Choice’s overall growth strategy, McElhare said. In 2025, the hotel company opened 66 domestic extended stay hotels, including Everhome properties across high-barrier-to-entry markets like Southern California and Texas. As of September, Choice had 45 Everhome hotels in the pipeline.
During a third-quarter earnings call in November, Choice Hotels CEO Patrick Pacious said the extended stay segment represented nearly half of the company’s U.S. pipeline.
The “cycle-resilient segment” offers “longer average stays, higher margins and stable revenue streams despite a challenging new construction environment for the industry,” Pacious said, adding that data center development was “fueling strong long-term demand for extended stay.”
Choice Hotels Chief Development Officer David Pepper echoed a similar sentiment, telling Hotel Dive earlier this year that extended stay “remains one of the most compelling investment opportunities in hospitality, driven by the AI and data center boom and the continuing bleisure trend.”
Developer Highside, in particular, is planning upwards of 30 Everhome projects to be completed over the next five years after securing $500 million in August to support the brand expansion, per a release obtained by Hotel Dive.
